The Consequences of Ideas (DVD or CD series)

The Consequences of Ideas (DVD or CD series)

Dr. R.C. Sproul shares his passion for philosophy in this series of presentations, available in either audio CD or DVD video formats. Sproul combines some biographical and historical background as he presents the ideas of major philosophers. He demonstrates how their ideas influenced the world and often continue to do so to this day. He includes classical philosophers such as Aristotle and Plato, Christian philosophers such as Augustine and Aquinas, and Atheists such as Marx and Hegel. In 35, 23-minute presentations he covers from the earliest known philosophers up through modern philosophical movements. Stories, anecdotes, and examples enliven presentations. Still, this is heavy material, probably best suited to serious students in their junior and senior high years. Both audio and visual versions are from the same presentation. The DVD's are professionally filmed on a classroom set with an audience. Sproul moves around constantly and uses a chalkboard from time to time. These elements add interest, but are not crucial to understanding the message.
