The American People and Nation

This is an 8 1/2" by 11" workbook, printed in black and white, and it teaches a providential view of history. Topics cover a broad range of introductory level material: the Bible as history, great Christians of the past, the Pilgrims, life in early America, the forming of our nation, study of land and oceans, the first and second World Wars, and some of the changes in our country during and since the Civil War. The coverage is very brief. An accompanying teacher's manual outlines activities and questions to broaden the study. Very large, clear print is easy for children to read, but the vocabulary is not controlled, so parents must work with their children. While the publisher lists this book for kindergarten, I think it more appropriate for first or second grade.
