World History Challenge!

Playing "Jeopardy" is usually much more appealing than other forms of drill and review for history and geography. These three books provide"Jeopardy"style questions and answers for each topic. Questions are presented under various topical categories and are assigned possible point values. A student can request a question from a category and from a point value group.

These history and geography Challenge! books are from a larger set of Challenge! books that also cover vocabulary and science. All follow the same format and are sold individually. These three books (and most of the others) are for high school students.

Obviously, this format requires more than one student to really play a game, but a parent/teacher might also use it a as a creative form of reviewing or quizzing with only one student. It is easy to identify categories that might be pertinent to current studies so questions can be narrowly targeted on a topic. For example, with an entire section of questions on "Early Cultures of Europe," you might focus on only one of four categories: The Germans, The Franks, Britain and Ireland, or The Vikings.

Questions and answers are a little awkward to match up since they are printed in separate sections, and questions are printed landscape style (sideways in the books) while answers are portrait style. It would be easier to photocopy answer pages that you might be using rather than flip back and forth.

Content of the books reflects that of typical secular textbooks.
