Time Traveler (Usborne)
Usborne's Time Traveler is one of their combination books. It brings together the smaller books: Viking Raiders, Rome and Romans, Knights and Castles, and Pharaohs and Pyramids. Suggested for ages 8 to 11, it consists primarily of full-color illustrations. Two or three paragraphs introduce each topic, then labeled illustrations, maps, diagrams, and sequenced illustrations take over. Two pages at the end of each of the smaller books except Knights and Castles provide succinct historical overviews. Otherwise, emphasis is primarily upon what it was like to live in those times and places. Time Traveler is interesting, even to adults, but children love this as a means of connecting with the personal side of history.
