Progeny Press Study Guides for Literature

See the complete review in 100 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum.

Progeny Press produces study guides for quite a few well-known novels, all written from a Christian perspective. Different authors wrote each of the guides, so, while their are some similarities, they do vary in format from guide to guide. Also, guides are available for the primary grades, upper elementary grades, middle school, and high school.

Each study guide includes an answer key. Teacher sets inlcude one copy of a study guide and one CD with the PDF pages of the same book. Homeschoolers might find it helpful to have both versions, but they are not necessary.

Older students might work independently, while younger students are more likely to require parental interaction.

Guides are available for books such as The Courage of Sarah Noble, The Cricket in Times Square, Little House in the Big Woods, The Secret Garden, To Kill a Mockingbird, and A Tale of Two Cities. For your convenience, Progeny Press also sells the novels to be read.

Guides were originally produced only in printed book format Now they are also available in CD-ROM and downloadable PDF formats. PDF versions for upper elementary, middle school, and high school are also interactive. With interactive versions students can type responses directly into the computer so you need not even print pages. Note that interactive PDF books are not self-checking but will still need to be graded by a parent/teacher.
